Never Have I Ever: Undergone Penile Enhancement Surgery

We Spoke to a Guy Who Underwent ‘Penile Enhancement Surgery’ — Here’s What It’s Like
Have you ever played “Never Have I Ever” before? Here are the rules: Everyone puts up ten fingers, and you go around in a circle and one by one share something sexy or scandalous that you’ve never done before. When someone else shares something you have done, you have to put one finger down — and of course, drink. The first person to put all 10 fingers down loses (or wins, depending on how you look at it).
Well, AskMen is still playing Never Have I Ever, and the rules are simple: In each edition of this column, we speak to someone about doing something new in bed, whether it’s a long-time fantasy, something that just happened, or even something they regret. They tell us everything so you get an inside look at what some sexual experiences are actually like.
After Botox, injectable fillers are the second most common minimally invasive cosmetic procedure in the U.S. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, over 2.6 million people get injectable fillers yearly. However, according to 2020 statistics, only around eight percent of all cosmetic procedures were done on men.
“There definitely is a social stigma for straight men, but it is decreasing,” says Dr. David Shafer, a double board-certified plastic surgeon practicing in New York City and the founder of Shafer Clinic Fifth Avenue. “Maybe I am biased since I live in NYC, but more and more men are having plastic surgery procedures.”
While many folks associate fillers with the face, particularly women’s lips, people of any gender can enjoy feeling hotter thanks to fillers — and yes, that includes dick fillers.
Six years ago, Dr. Shafer developed a procedure that uses fillers to offer a minimally invasive solution for enhancing both penile width and girth instantly.
While a 2014 study published in the British Journal of Urology International reports that the average erect penis size is 5.16 inches in length and 4.59 inches in width, men face unrealistic body standards, too — and, like women, it’s understandable that they may want to undergo procedures to help them attain those standards.
After all, confidence, not actual dick size, is the main ingredient in the infamous concept of “big dick energy.”
“I have found that almost every guy has doubts about their penis, and no one is completely satisfied with what they have. While most of our patients are average to large in size, they don’t realize that,” Dr. Shafer says. “With the popularity of porn on the internet, guys really have an altered sense of what size is normal or average.”
Dr. Shafer injects dermal fillers into the penis shaft using a cannula technique, resulting in a thicker and heavier appearance. These fillers can also be applied to the glans or head of the penis for additional enhancement.
For those concerned about the idea of needles near your genitals, fear not. Dr. Shafer employs a nerve block as the first step, rendering the shaft numb for the procedure. Even the fillers themselves contain numbing agents, so it shouldn’t be too sore afterward.
Dr. Shafer primarily uses hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers, particularly Juvederm Volux XC, which can last up to two years. Hyaluronic acids also offer the added benefit of being easily reversible using an injectable enzyme if you change your mind later.
Curious about having sex after getting the procedure? Dr. Shafer recommends avoiding penetrative sex for the first week and oral sex for five days post-procedure. Patients are encouraged to engage in masturbation or (ever-underrated) handjobs to help smooth the filler. But after that? Many report enhanced sexual experiences for both themselves and their partners. But don’t take our word for it.
We spoke to Jason (not his real name) about his first-time experience getting penis fillers from Dr. Shafer. What scared him most may surprise you. It wasn’t the needles in his penis, but it does shed insight into the double standards men face when treating themselves to cosmetic procedures.
AskMen: What led you to try penis fillers?
Jason: As individuals, we are always trying to better ourselves in various ways. Whether that be physically, mentally, or spiritually, we have an inherent drive and desire to enhance ourselves and be the best we can be. This is what drives people to spend hours in the gym, working out to transform their bodies. So, although I did not consider myself below average before, there was always this part of me that wished it could be bigger, not just for a sexual partner, but simply for me.
Have you had cosmetic procedures done in the past?
No, never!
What were you most afraid of?
It’s actually very interesting… Of course, there is physical fear of having needles placed on such a delicate part of the body, but my greatest fear was actually going into the clinic for the first time. This was something that was very uncomfortable for me, and the thought of having to acknowledge to everyone in the clinic that this was why I was there gave me some anxiety.
Did you need to be scared?
Not in the least! Everyone was kind and welcoming. I was made to feel special and important, but also fully accepted without judgment. And Dr. Shafer was confident and calming and made me completely comfortable.
What were you most excited about?
It wasn’t so much about impressing anyone else, but just walking around with that “BDE” and new confidence.
What was the actual producer like?
The procedure was surprisingly easy and quick. After donning a gown, Dr. Shafer sterilizes the area. He then injects some anesthetic, which immediately goes to work, numbing the penis. This is the only part of the procedure where you feel a practically imperceptible pinch. After that, you don’t feel anything at all. The doctor then injects the filler, and after 5 to 10 minutes, the process is over.
How has it changed your confidence and sex life?
It has been the single largest confidence booster in my life. This has nothing to do with a level of sexual activity. Yes, it’s incredible to have sex after the procedure. My partner was excited by the appearance and the full feeling of such a large penis.
But for me, the best feeling is just walking around with it, feeling so heavy and massive. So, the confidence emanates from both the bedroom as well as the resulting day-to-day swagger.
Anything else to add?
There are many things in life that we can be hesitant to embark upon out of fear. I was in that situation regarding this procedure. I felt fearful and a sense of embarrassment, not to mention anxiety over what it might entail and the potential for what I thought might be a painful experience. But every single one of those feelings was unwarranted.
