3 Sex Positions That’ll Help You Fulfill Your New Year’s Resolutions
The Story
Not all sex positions are created equal.
With many people’s New Year’s resolutions focused on some form of healthiness — whether physical, emotional, psychological or some combination thereof — it doesn’t hurt to consider sex positions that could help you maintain your goals as we exit January and move into the rest of the year.
At least, that’s what April Maria, a sex educator and relationship therapist for JOYclub, a sex-positive online community with over 5 million members, has to say. So what are the healthiest sex positions?
The Snapshot
Spooning
“Spooning is said to reduce your stress levels which will be very helpful if you’re hoping to be more laid back this year,” says Maria. “When you feel close to someone you love, your body releases the hormone oxytocin, which combats cortisol — our stress hormone. So, if you’re stressed, give spooning a go.”
Reverse Cowgirl
According to Maria, Reverse Cowgirl isn’t just a porn move.
“If you’re shy in the bedroom and want this to be your most empowered year yet, then the Reverse Cowgirl position could be ideal,” Maria says. “While you face away from your partner you needn’t over-think what you’re doing or how you look, but you remain center stage. Over time, you might just find that you love being in the spotlight and want to turn around, unlocking newfound confidence!”
Kneeling Down
“Consistent sex is thought to boost productivity, so if you’re striving to achieve more at work this year, consider getting your mornings off to a great start with this easy, low-effort position,” says Maria. “As one partner kneels, the other sits on top of them. Simple. This will boost your mood and motivation without any unfortunate morning breath — you’re welcome!”
The Lesson
Of course, Maria adds that any sex position that feels right for you can be the key to unlocking your resolutions this year. Perhaps the best one? Something that helps you unlock a secret desire or fetish you have.
According to Maria, “2024 is the year of no regrets. If you’ve got a hidden fetish you’ve never had the confidence to explore before, now’s the time to fulfill your wildest desires and try something new.”
After all, while sex isn’t everything, sexual satisfaction (or lack thereof) can greatly impact a person’s overall happiness. Taking your desires seriously and figuring out how to make them happen could help make 2024 a year to remember for you.
