Sharing on social media is a double-edged sword.
While it can undeniably be a useful tool, satisfying our curiosity about the world around us (and other people’s lives), it comes with some pitfalls.
Perhaps one of the biggest and most grating is oversharing .
Occasionally veering into ‘humblebrag’ territory, it can be anything from a glut of hot-dog leg holiday pictures while you freeze at home, or those cryptic and passive aggressive statuses, clearly aimed at “a certain someone”.
But these are small-fry compared to perhaps the most traumatic type of over-sharing: Parents waxing lyrical about their sex lives .
It can be unsettling enough when, in real life, parents let something slip. But, online, for the whole world to see – that’s a different story.
So spare a thought for this lot who appeared on the Daily Mail, who got a lot more than they bargained for when they logged on.
1. Kinkly: Not really like Fight Club
We were tempted to check Kinkly out, but we were too scared of what we might find (i.e. our own parents).
And surely the first rule of any secret society is to, well, keep it secret?
2. The secret to a lasting relationship
“What’s the secret to a successful relationship?”
It’s a question people sometimes spend a lot of time and money trying to crack.
One couple basically nailed it.
3. Toy Story
We desperately want to know what her mum is posting and referencing.
Actually, it’s this mum’s way with words and story-telling ability which grabbed us.
She gets points for setting the scene beautifully. Maybe a career in erotic fiction beckons?
5. Life choices
Someone’s mum needs to tweak her privacy settings.
6. And this is actually quite sweet
See, they do write nice things sometimes!
