We agreed to delete Facebook as it was causing so much angst between us, but now he’s decided he wants to go back on it
I’ve been going out with my boyfriend for a few months now, but lately I have been getting really annoyed and territorial over his social media accounts.
Recently, I woke up one morning to find he had followed 18 girls in one night and then he claimed they were all friends!
We agreed to delete Facebook as it was causing so much angst between us, but now he’s decided he wants to go back on it.
Should I be worried and do you think that now he’s back on it, it’ll cause more problems in our relationship?
I’ve said it before, but social media can cause many problems in relationships. It’s so addictive, as your boyfriend has discovered because he can’t stay off it!
Personally, I would be really fed up if got up one morning and my hubby Ray had suddenly befriended 18 girls online. That’s just not on – and they certainly aren’t genuine friends.
On the positive side, he hasn’t hidden it from you. But social media is like a clingy toddler – you need a time out! So instead of just banning him from it altogether and causing a huge argument, start having times away from it.
So when you’re having dinner together or spending any quality time together, the deal is no phones. It’s a Facebook-free zone.
I’ve been in a situation before where me, Ray, my son Shane Jnr, my daughter Ciara and her mate have all been sat in our living room, not talking and just staring at our phones!
It’s not good.
