For many women, having an orgasm during sex is a cause for celebration, but having one which lasts for over a minute is like winning a gold medal.
HAPPY DAYS: That’s right, a 60-second orgasm is achievable
The female orgasm usually lasts for six-30 seconds says Emily Nagoski, author of Come As You Are: The Surprising New Science That Will Transform Your Sex Life.
However, depending on the vibe, yours and their mood and the moves, there are ways you can prolong that prized climax.
1. Surprise, surprise, foreplay is highly important
It’s all about the build up. If oral sex is your thing get your partner to go down on you, getting you close to climax and then scale it back a bit.
Get them to do this a few times and when you finally do climax the anticipation will make it that much more intense.
“Being brought to the brink of orgasm repeatedly will cause your arousal to spread throughout your whole body – resulting in a bigger, longer climax when you finally peak,” Nagoski told Women’s Health.
2. Test out different erogenous zones
Massaging the clitoris is usually the easiest way for women to orgasm. Try hitting the G-spot at the same time to make the orgasm last longer. The best way to do this is try doggy style – which is Brits favourite sex position.
“Stimulating the G-spot can produce a climax that feels very different from an orgasm achieved by massaging the clitoris,” erotic journalist and expert, Alix Fox said.
“It can go on longer too, delivering wave after wave of pleasure.”
You can also experiment with nipple stimulation to really get you going.

3. Strengthen your pelvic floor muscles
Your orgasm is essentially an intense contraction of your pelvic floor muscles. You can strengthen them to increase blood flow to the area which will help you achieve a deeper pleasure sensation.
To do this, lie on your back with your knees bent and feet on the floor. Place something, like a ball, between your thighs and engage your Kegels by squeezing and bring your knees up to your chest – 10 reps of these three times a day will help you feel a difference in no time.
4. Talk to each other
“Insecurity distracts you and inhibits your pleasure,” Nagoski said.
So make sure you tell the other person how much they turn you on, how beautiful they are and what they do to you that you really like. This little act will get you turned on and make your orgasm last longer.
5. Don’t be afraid to lead
Figure out what makes each other tick. When you really know your partner in an intimate way you’ll be able to know what gets them off.
So mix it up a bit, tease them in the area you know they like, but then back off for a bit. Don’t be afraid to tell them exactly how you like it.
When you’re close to orgasm, your clitoris will be extra sensitive so perhaps whisper to them if you’d like it gentle or hard.
Knowing each other’s bodies will make you feel more in control and result in a more intense orgasm.
