Dear Coleen: I’m still a virgin and worried I won’t be good at sex

Dear Coleen

I turn 18 soon and most guys I find attractive presume I’ve had , when in reality I’m still a virgin.

This makes me really anxious and I have turned down potential because I don’t want to disappoint them in the .

What do you think?

Coleen says

I think when you find the right boy and you really like each other, you just need to tell him this is the case when you start to get intimate. “Actually, it’s my first time,” is all you have to say. And, trust me, he won’t be disappointed or put off.

I know you imagine that these boys you know have slept with lots of other and that you’ll be rubbish and not know what to do. But that won’t be the case.

These boys will be worried about exactly the same stuff as you are. You can learn together, that’s part of the fun.

It’s good you’re not rushing into with someone – you certainly shouldn’t feel pressured by – but don’t miss out on because of it.
